Oh dear, this doesn't sound like the 'happy ending' we were hoping for, only hope that if she can't keep them she does the right thing and gets in touch with Rescue. Seems a bit like a tug of war between her and her ex doesn't it?

I've asked my friend if possible, to let them know I will come and get them if they feel they can't cope and find them lovely new homes. Don't worry I will contact the right people if it comes to it...

I just hope she looks after them both better than they have been cared for in the past. She obviously wasn't too bothered about their welfare.............

Just trying to find a reason why this dog would be allowed back to this owner when it was obviously not cared for and not reported lost, to a dwelling somewhere that should not have dogs either.... is there no way somebody could have said NO, get said owner to sign her over and let the poor dog go to a more sensible home....

As the person who found this bitch I thought I would come on here and clarify things as it seems my detection work is not up to scratch and I gave Pat the wrong information-the bitch is definately with the husband now not the wife, something he is not happy about.
When I found her I was in a rush to get to work and as I had 3 dogs in my car already taking her with me was not an option so I handed her straight over to a neighbour who is an experienced dog person, she walked her round the camp for a while to check no one was looking for her then while she was waiting for the dog warden to arrive she started cutting some of the horrendous mats out of her and started the job of brushing out the dead coat which was hanging off her. So,she was in an even worse state before she got to the kennels.
I have to say that reading some of these posts its obvious that she's had more kindness in the past week from the Rough Collie folk than she had had for a long time(especially Val who spent so long grooming her).Hopefully its a wake up call to her owner that its not acceptable for her to be treated like this and getting lost might just turn out to be the best thing thats happened to her.Fingers crossed.

I have to say that i have sat back and watched this post since it started - i can figure out why people have animals and treat them like this.
This week i have rehomed one of my dogs and i wil be rehoming another one - through a choice of mine and not because i had to might i add.
It has broken my heart to hear of people who have dogs and dont look after them or just simply hope they will go away and not come back.

I dedicate most of my life to my dogs like others on here and i have found it heartbreaking just to find the right homes for my dogs - how can people do this to such defenseless animals who havent got a voice. I think that if they cant look after them then please do the right thing and hand them over so that a loving home can be found for them.

I would think it would be very difficult to find out the bitch's breeder.
One of my neighbours has said he thinks it was the daughter who picked her up from Whitehouse and paid the £129-but he also doesn't think the daughter lives there,at least he has never seen her there. The man doesn't want the bitch,(or the other dogs-a yorkie has now been seen in the back garden along with the sheltie) he has too many problems of his own but maybe he feels pressurised by the daughter? Im not sure why he won't rehome them.

Re: Found Rough Collie Sable Bitch

In relation to what Sylvia had asked about breeders taking back dogs. I have only had one litter to date but i did stress to all owners that if for any reason they cannot look after the dog or dont want the dog anymore then bring the dog back to me straight away. I think that most breeders would do the same and i think in my opinion its just the right thing to do although there are probably breeders out there who wont take the dog back.

I know that it has been said that he is finding his own life very difficult so maybe he doesnt feel that he can go back to the breeder. Maybe he is feeling guilty and feels he will be judged or scrutinised for not wanting the dog anymore - and if he is having problems then this is probably the way he thinks it will be. Maybe if someone could speak to him and if he has done nothing wrong and he is just ill - it might make him feel a bit better that if he knows he shouldnt feel guilty about letting his dogs go. Then maybe he may be able to approach the breeder or even someone else do it. I suppose no-one really knows whats going on in his head and he maybe feels too embarrassed to speak about it. I hope that he can think about the dogs welfare in amonst his own difficulties and do the right thing for them or at least get some help in order for him to cope.

P.S - i think my lastpost may have been a bit harsh on him if he is truly genuinely ill and is having real problems but there are people out there who play on it and simply just dont want to have the dogs anymore.

So what you are saying is that a dog owner should always contact breeder and offer the dog back, if the owner is unable or just doesn’t want/need the dog!

I agree that there is maybe a guilt issue but the health and wellbeing of the dog should always come 1st.

We are upset to see that you have advertised Simba for sale yesterday but even more upset that we (The BREEDER) have not been contacted by yourself.

Which rule do we follow here, should breeder be contacted or not?

I dont think that the forum is a place for a public slanging match and what dogs i decide to rehome has nothing to do with the forum. If im not mistaken there has already been an issue regarding this before on the forum.

NOT ALL BREEDERS are in a position to take the dog back and for what its worth this was the impressioon that i was under with yourself as was stated a few weeks back that you were not in a position to take any more dogs - not that i need explain myself on here as i have already said it has nothing to do with the forum.

I have found lovely homes for my two dogs that i have rehomed and one of those homes is someone i know and the other one had been vetted by a member of Border Collie resuce and is more than fitting for the dog. So yes the dogs wellbeing is paramount as far as im concerned.

Again another situation that the forum is being misused for. This is regarding the wellbeing of a Rough Collie Bitch that was in a bad state when she was rescued not my dogs that i have decided to rehome for my personal reasons .

I agree the forum isn't a place for a slagging match. This was not the intention of my post.

All I wanted to know was why one of the dogs I have bred, has NEVER been offered back to me, seeing as you think this would be the right thing to do (as in the above post that I commented on)

I think enough's enough here, and we should get back ON TOPIC!!!!

Having been involved in slanging matches in the past (with me as the victim) I can say that it isn't worth it, and only upsets and annoys people.

So let's calm down, and think of the welfare of the dog in question, not anybody else's ....
